"My mother, an artist herself, encouraged my talent but I was just as fascinated by my father's woodworking tools and couldn't keep my hands off them."

"Born to Work With Wood"

"Harry, you have found your calling and passion!!!"
......Lee

Even as a five-year-old, I would spend hours drawing trees, fascinated by the intricate way trees branched out. That fascination has stayed with me..from my youth when I received my first jigsaw at age 10, through high school, where I had the good fortune to have a shop teacher who cultivated that love for wood, through my years in education when I taught boys to make lamps from salvaged bowling pins, and now, into my retirement.

Turning is My Retirement Passion!

Each piece of wood has its own character that tells me what it needs to become.

When my wife and I retired in 2003, I set up a wood shop with a 60-year-old lathe and began turning the raw wood that had been cut from our property. My wife loves the beautiful simplicity of the line. Others say they like how smooth the bowls feel. For me it is my love for wood and discovering what lies within it.

Meeting New Challenges

As my passion for turning grew, so did my need to upgrade to a larger lathe.

This larger lathe allows me to turn larger and larger bowls. With each new challenge met, another is faced.
